update on life...

No, no site updates, tho I should look into that when I have time. Then again, what am I talking about? There's the possibility that midterms will continue on straight for two more weeks...

Currently:
Sleepy
Freezing
Have to do my prospectus draft
toothache
stomachache

I did finish the data analysis though (even though roommate said it sounded really 'light' as in not very detailed/rigorous, etc, but I'm beyond caring at this point and this wasn't supposed to be rigorous...), and did pretty well on my accounting midterm (the one that started off this month long marathon of midterms). Got As on both of them so far, so keeping my fingers crossed for an A in the class...

Econ midterm was this tuesday and I skipped class on thursday...The test was hard but not impossible, and I hope I reguritated all the information that they were looking for in the right way...some of the discount rate stuff (not for department store sales, that's for sure) was really confusing...@_@ I hope I got it right.

At least the true/false aren't like the ones on the math midterm, when if it's wrong, you get zero points, and if it's right, you still don't get full credit (only a tiny fraction, like 3/10) if you don't explain it to perfection.

Thinking of NOT doing the thesis next semester. If the little preview of hell I got these past two weeks is any indication, I would probably end up throwing myself out of the window if I have to do a thesis on top of the load of work (I apparently am a masochist. Signed up for wayyyy too many hard classes@_@) I'll have. But we'll see, I guess.

And in regards to the toothache...I saw the dentist yesterday, he was a nice man...anyway, he did some weird flushing thing with some chemical that tasted funny and foamed a lot, and prescribed antibiotics. Yes, my wisdom teeth (or at least, that particular one) is coming out fine. It just got infected because once the teeth starts coming out, the gum is easily susceptible to things like that...so I just have to be careful, etc etc.

The stupid pharmacy took almost an hour tho...I'm like "I just need antibiotics!>_<" You'd figure that college students can read, and they did print out very straightforward directions for the medication, so why did I have to wait another 10 minutes for the pharmacist to tell me that "Yes, do as it says here"...?

Well, a small price to pay for not having to have major teeth pulling (I've never had problems with my teeth, except needing a few fillings for cavities, so the idea of getting them yanked is very creepy to me...).

Let's see, what else...? Ah, right. The draft of the prospectus looms above my head (it's due monday) and there's an anime film festival this weekend too. Dammit. But anyway, I have a very rough draft going, I just need to crank out the literature review (what have other prestigious economists said on my lovely topic...one was a series of articles of them tearing each other apart, that was very fun to read) and tighten up all the loose screws. And there are a LOT of loose screws.

On the creative front, I've been surprisingly productive with writing, but not with art...well, since I bring my laptop with me to the library, and I've been to the library a lot these past few days, and so on and so forth...Productive doesn't mean it's good stuff, but at least it's an outlet.

And the weather here is insane. It was crazily hot and dry at the beginning of the week (people've all heard of the southern CA fires, yes?) and then there was the insanity going on with the wildfires. I'm not down in So-cal right now, but my house is there and I nearly freaked when the news started talking about fires in Simi Valley. It was a good thing our tenant was still there, he kept us up-to-date on what's happening down there, and it seems like the danger's past for now. And of course, NOW it's freezing up here, and it was raining when I got back this morning. I was like "nooooo....rain in Southern CA, not here!" But yeah...I hope this will help the firefighting efforts of the people down there...

There's class in a few minutes (actually, in 45 minutes, but I have to leave early), and then grocery shopping...@_@. I want to draw...

Oh, and.......

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

A Short Con report and some piccies.

Well, yesterday I went to San Franciso. Going to Japantown was normal, I go whenever I have time, but this weekend was special because it was the weekend of ...*drumroll* ...Yaoicon!

For those who don't know, 'yaoi' is generally used to describe the genre in anime and manga that have male same-sex pairings.

Now, my reasons for going to yaoi-con this year are rather trivial. I like yaoi in moderation, it's fun and entertaining if done well, so I thought I'd go take a look. And I'm also graduating from college soon, which means I will most likely not be in the area for the next yaoi-con, and I've always wanted to see what other anime-conventions are like.

I've been spoiled by Anime Expo, I swear.^^; My first reaction was "This is a rather small dealers' room..."...

So I went, and shelled out money for the badge, showed ID to prove i'm over 18, etc etc. I hit the dealers' room to see what is different from normal anime conventions...and tis not much.^_^ But there were a lot of doujinshi and speciality books (the yaoi manga, for one. I don't think I saw so many at Anime Expo...). Also, and this made me happy, there were a lot of artists out for yaoi-con, selling copies of their doujin and art. That makes me happy not because of all the gratuitous nudity involved, but because it means...I have hope!^_^;;;;

It's good to see that there are artists out there selling stuff and fans buying.^_^;

Anyway, the cosplayers I saw were all so-so, except for a pair of Squalls that rocked my socks. (that saying is so funny...) The black leather was VERY nicely worn...even though one of them was played by a girl.^_^ But the Squalls were hot.

Loot wise, i didn't get very much. Being naturally stingy means that I couldn't bear to fork over the astronomical amounts of money for all the doujins by the ERF circle (gods, I thought their Laguna was adorable, but how they manage to draw Kiros so well is beyond me...), I only bought two...And also new inking pens and screentones (not from copic! About time they stopped their monopoly...). And a DVD, even though I was sorely tempted to buy more...

I doodled a pic for the occasion and slapped on the scan of the screentone of background...

Shiva sans background, with background

These links might not work once i move the files into the right folders, but for now, they shall be here...

Going to go now. head hurts...@_@
